Thanked: 1First things first. Start with your prep. After you lather up use your fingers to really work the lather in. Next strop your blade. This will give lather more time to really soak into those whiskers. Relather after stropping and then proceed with your shave. There are all kinds of different methods for preparing your beard. Check out the wiki for shave prep. Hang in there & try different methods or pick and choose. That's where the fun is at and the enjoyment when you finally get it right

Thanked: 2I like the sequence MD. Shaving like many other things in life is a ritual. Each step is a timed event in the sequence there for a reason. Letting the lather sit while I strop is a very good idea.
Mantic59 recently posted some ideas on how to improve your neck shave. He suggested lathering the neck first and shaving last to let it soak in more. Your idea give everything more time.
