I still really struggle to do anything but with the grain passes on any part of my face. My neck is the worst part for me as the hair goes quite a way down and grows upwards towards my chin. This means that my WTG pass on my neck is an upward stroke. As I said I am still at the stage where I do progressive passes WTG, but on my cheeks and when stretched upwards just below the jaw line too, I can get away with an angled pass, so not truly XTG but not WTG either. Even with all my passes WTG I am achieving socially acceptable shaves so I am not rushing to add something into my routine that will cause aggravation. I figure once I get really comfortable with what the razor can do I will be more adventurous. To me the important thins is that after 30 years I finally enjoy shaving, the results will only get better with experience.
I am not sure if this is of any real help as I am a complete noob but I just wanted to add some encouragement and some of my albeit limited experience.
If you do solve this one I would be really interested to know how.

It's all achieved with a truly shave ready, well stropped blade, and TIME . You can't expect this to come in a few weeks. Master each area one at a time, then concentrate on the others. Once you have that den add them all together and also just try different methods or make up your own. Remember stretching is very important if your looking for BBS.
In the beginning just accept a CCS and work on perfecting the pressure, angle, and stretching. Get one area BBS and then the rest will follow. Plus as you get experience you will find that BBS is just a bragging thing, I myself only do it n Sunday because of all the old women at church kissing me, but they really wouldn't know on my neck.
Ok so when you can consistently get a BBS on your cheeks, and are maintaining a great edge with your strop, then work on the neck, followed by the chin, take small wins and enjoy it, or keep trying to rush it and have less than fun results. I know after time you can develope strokes to get the neck, it just takes TIME. Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

I guess that's as good a reason as any I've heard. Not too many old women at my Church, but I guess age is relative and I am probably considered one of the old people these days.
I am achieving shaves that allow me to leave the house without looking like a unkempt youth. For me at the moment it's more about the journey than the destination. I know from experience everything else will come with time.
I try to change something that didn't go well the previous day and keep the things that did, that way eventually I will have a good routine down.
