    Default First razor!

Just wanted to show off and or get some opinions on my first razor, It's an imperial (still research to see if I can identify the precise razor) got it at my local antiques shop for like 33 bucks
Super exciting to get this thing clean and honed!

Tip has been reshaped and some pitting on edge. The rest should clean up. Suggest you get it professionally honed.

I was planning on it, thanks. The pitting isn't as bad as it looks most of that is just tarnished, there's one miniscule pit on the edge but that should be removed without losing too much metal.

I know right? The scales look great now that I've cleaned em, can't wait to see how good I can make the blade look. Even if it doesn't shave amazingly well it's for sure better than a disposable and a hell of a lot better looking.

When it comes to corrosion on the edge and tarnish running into it, it i very hard to be able to tell what it can be without having a solid bevel set to start with. Perhaps there is someone close that you can send it to to have a bevel set, solid and clean and then return it to you for the restoration. If you do not start at the bevel there is a high risk of not being able to get a clean bevel and then you will have put your time and energy in for the experience of it and not have a decent shaving razor in the end.

Thanks that's a good idea, I'm for sure going to do more research and figure out the best way to do things before I start restoring at all.

There is more information here than you will likely ever need, it is very educational.

It will be a good one to learn from and has the potential for being a good razor in the end. If you start with a razor with no potential...
