    Thanks to all your suggestions, I stropped a bit more. And am happy to report that I got a smooth shave. (At least better than I had before.)

    Don't mean to hijack the thread, but if you do see chipping or a rolled edge, how does one remedy this? I assume you have to hone it?

    Yes. You will need to restore a bevel.
