I 2nd the comment that a DE would be better for her. It has the convenience of a cartridge but is a better shave if she uses it correctly. I bought one for my wife after I started SR shaving and understood the proper wet shave process.
I also 2nd the comment that you use your SR to shave her legs. I started shaving my wife's legs after I got reasonably comfortable using an SR. Lots of territory to get extra practice, not tough beard hair and you will develop the "feel" for proper angle quickly. When it is not your own face you learn how to use little pressure too. Lots of motivation not to make a cut. She likes the "spa" treatment and gets a closer shave than she does with a DE herself. Of course she goes after shaving like a chore and those of us on this site see shaving differently.
By the way, the other payoff if you shave her legs is that she will support your shaving habit. Pretty soon she will start bringing home different soaps, start suggesting different brushes like silver tip badger, etc.

My wife uses a DE. I have a friend that uses a straight. I set her up with a regular straight and then after a bit of after discussion she decided to try a shorty and then stayed with the shorty. I have no details of her experience she shared a small amount of information but it was more general shaving stuff.

Like me, my girlfriend started shaving with a safety razor. She loves convenience of cartridge razors. However, if she got a closer shave with a straight razor, she'd probably use one.

I'll be seeing her in an hour or so. We're planning a few days' road trip. I'm thinking of bringing my brand new straight razor. According to her, what's mine is hers. If she sees it, she might just try it.

I am going to send her the above link that tutors women in the art of shaving.

This reminds me.. I had to shave my wife's legs with my straight last year during the family vacations. She had forgot her cartridge razor. Best shave she ever had...

And for those of you who are wondering... it didn't lead anywhere... The kids were in the room....

    Cheers,

Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. I had no clue that she used to shave her face. According to this article, so did Marilyn Monroe: What Every Woman Needs to Know Before Shaving Her Face

I knew it was bound to happen. Last night while we were lying in bad watching TV, she wanted to take another look at my brand spanking new straight razor. Keep in mind that I've never used it. I was watching the Stanford game, not paying attention to her. Suddenly she began shaving her legs with it. I tried to tell her that straight razor shaving was a process, not a spontaneous removal of hair. I showed her what I thought would be the proper angle for leg shaving. She made a few more passes. Then I took it from her, telling her that that blade still had factory packing oil on it, that should she cut herself, that packing oil might cause a serious infection. But I knew my intuition was right: she loves all things antique, and while she held it, I told her that her grandmother had assuredly learned to shave with a straight razor. Now all I have to do is to see if she would forego convenience of her beloved Fusion for the art of straight razor shaving.

BTW, she did tell me that after I learn to use it, she'd let me shave her legs with it. After she learns how to shave her legs with a straight razor, she might just return to practices of artists of yesteryear. She did ask about straight razor shaving her bikini line. I told her that she ought to have a professional straight razor shave it a few times before she tries it. But I'm not sure if there's a women's spa where we live that straight razor shaves women. She might have to find a woman who's willing to show her how to straight razor shave her bikini line.
