I also noticed a few very tiny "rust" marks on the blade right out of the box
I would p the strop count. At least 25 linen and 50 leather. If you aren't stropping enough it will only deteriorate the edge
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

I am really surprised to hear that the razor was marked, that has just not been my experience at all. I am sure that if you talk to Adam he will want to sort that out for you.

I don't know about the technique because i haven't shaved with a straight razor that much, i just put as much pressure as i felt comfortable.

I also tought about contacting Adam but i actually really don't care about these marks, i just want someone experienced to take a look at the blade and make it sharp again (hone it or whatever necessary)

As and when you get it honed, try again with no pressure at all. Take your time, it will come to you. I still have a long way to go myself.

As for the marks it really depends where they are, if they are on the cutting edge that's a definite issue. Make sure you dry the razor thoroughly too. Have a good look in the beginners section here too, it is full of really useful stuff.

Stick at it you will get there and you will enjoy the journey too.

Welcome from SE Washington State USA,

Jamie is in the UK and does a nice job of honing, you can PM him here:

As has been mentioned this age old art takes patience. Go slow, remember it's not a race. With time and practice you will get better at all aspects.
