    Default The Journey So Far

Well I'm at my six month mark and so far the quest has been delightful.

My shaves are improving quite nicely. Still have my bad days, but they are fewer and fewer. Using my left hand (non dominant) still needs a lot of work. I have to watch the angle constantly. My chin still can be problematic, but using the heel with short strokes has helped greatly (think I got that from a post by dmint).

Stropping is where I've seen leaps and bounds! I can actually see/feel that I'm helping the edge. It's like I woke up one morning and the whole thing clicked. I still take it slow (very slow compared to some vids of you salty dogs I've watch from the StropTober thread), but the speed is coming. Slow is smooth...Smooth is fast! Who would have figured my military training would aid with SRing.
The CroX sail canvas strop Marty gave me has helped refresh my edges quite well.

This past week end I refreshed my first razor on the 4k/8k I got from Bob. That shave was SR EUPHORIA! Spent more time on the hone than I planned, but once again Slow is smooth...Smooth is fast!

Obie thanks for your soap thread. I've tried the CF and Le Pere from the top tier list. PURE BLISS!

Thanks to all you guys for chipping in on this journey! Some of you have aided me and not even known it. The knowledge from just browsing the threads here is top notch.

Have a good weekend and Holidays and smooth shaves!

    Jer
    Keep it safe and Cheers,
    Jer

Well, that is what we are all here for Jer, to help each other on our journey to straight razor shaving. We are all a part of a community, brothers seeking the same goal. We were all where you are at one time and we got to where we are today the same way as you, info from this site. If you ever have any questions, just ask. Enjoy the journey!

That's great Jer! I never bothered teaching my left hand how to shave.
