Another thing that you might want to try while developing your technique is stropping on newspaper. I did it when I first started for quite a while. Fold the paper so it has a little cushion and place it on a flat surface like the kitchen counter when you strop. It works surprisingly well.
If you want to check the edge to see if it's rolled use a loose cotton ball and rub it downward from the spine to the edge. If it's rolled the cotton will snag and pull on one side of the blade.
Keep practicing and you'll get the stropping in no time at all..
    Good luck!

I've read that folded newspaper can work as an improvised strop when you're traveling. I've never tried it myself.

Your hand, wrist, or thigh also can serve as a travel strop, but these are not strops you want to slice!

It happens! I rolled a couple edges before I got the hang of stropping You might want to consider not sending out the razor to get honed just yet and instead using it to practice your stropping.

    It works but watch out:
such a "newspaper-strop" works abrasive and makes the edge somewhat "aggressive"

That's a GREAT idea!!! When I thought I rolled my edge back in late February of this year, I did the pin test. That, for those unfamiliar with the term, is where one takes a straight pin or a small sewing needle, places it on the body of the razor, and moves perpendicularly to and across the edge. If the edge is rolled, you'll feel the pin catch.

To the OP, I thought I rolled the edge when I first got my SR. But it passed the pin test. What worked for me was to get some CRoX and, using Lynn's refreshing a SR video, gave it a few passes. Afterwards, the razor felt great! So it is possible I could have rounded the edge (like the profile of a ball point pen, only less severe) and the CRoX restored the edge.

Don't sweat it. Anyone who didn't roll the edge when first starting out is probably fibbing. Don't forget you do not have a honemeister at your side in the bathroom. You are on your own with a steep learning curve. No one is born with perfect stropping technique. I've rolled my edge recently on my finishing stone. It happens. You, like I, will get there.
