what their tryin to tell you Is,,, ya if you want to hone , then hone. but until you learn to shave and strop, you really wont know what a shave ready edge is. thats the simple truth of the matter. once your there then grind as much steel you want, its your razor just friendly advise from someone who has found that I didn't know what shave ready was once I mastered saving and stropping then the light came on. not to mention only hone razor every few months or even a year or more, but you strop and shave everyday Tc

Thanked: 0I really appreciate all the help guys. I fully expect learning to hone well enough make anything decent to take a couple years. As I said though, I will buy a new blade and have it honed by a professional and in the meanwhile I will have a practice blade to learn on. and will of course strop and shave as needed.
