Thanked: 0Hello everybody!
Hello everybody at SRP! I am a recent convert to wet shaving, the acquisition disorders started about a month and a bit ago ! I have just joined SRP and wanted to introduce myself to everybody here. I was pointed here by Mark's (mantic59) video as well as Dr.Chris Moss' great straight shaving guide and other numerous members of shavemyface.com! I want to get into straight shaving but won't until I get DE shaving down pat, not because I'm afraid but because I have spent enough money for now! Anyways just a friendly hello to everybody out there! If anyone does have a recommendation for a good first straight I would love to hear it and would consider taking the plunge sooner rather than later! ! My wallet won't appreciate it but my face will! Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to getting to know you gents!
Warmest regards, Niksa
P.S. If you want to know what I already have in terms of shaving gear, this post will tell you everything that you need to know http://www.shavemyface.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19312 It still doesn't have some of my most recent acquisitions and I will have to update it soon! I know I have a problem!

Dobro Dojo Niksa! Welcome aboard!
/although I have no idea what a musical instrument and a Japanese training facility have to do with a greeting.

Hey Niksa... I figured it'd only be a matter of time having you show up here.
Welcome aboard from one newb to another."But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel. "

Thanked: 0Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! I think that I will purchase a straight razor and anything else that I would need to shave with one if I can get a recommendation for a great shaver for not so much money! I am a student and funds tend to be a little tight! I have no idea if what else I would need to use a straight. A strop I assume is essential, and as I will not want to hone the razor myself I don't need any stones. I assume that there is a post on this exact topic somewhere around here and I will attempt to find it! It would be helpful if someone who knew where it was located could point the way! I look forward to getting to know you gents better!
Brian, you know me better than I know myself it would seem! I can't wait to try my first straight!
Warmest regards, Niksa

For razors, I'd recommend pm-ing JoshEarl. He sells good vintage shavers, shave-ready, in the $25-50 ballpark. Your other gear should come from Tony Miller...
1) A hanging strop. Basically anything you get from him will do the job well and even with shipping and customs, you'll still save a nice chunk of change over what's available here in Canada. I think the cheapest he has is about $35-40
2) A paddle strop with one side pasted with 0.5 micron chromium oxide. 5-10 strokes every 5-15 shaves will maintain your edge for a long time. That'll be another $40 or so
Tony also sells DOVO razors shave-ready, but they'll cost twice as much as what you'd get from Josh. However, they're still a bargain if you want a brand new great shaver, especially since honing service generally runs at about $20.
