Thread: Radio Shack Magnifier

I've read where members have mentioned Radio Shack magnifiers for inspecting their razors. Is there any particular magnifier they offer that is best? Perhaps someone could furnish me with a link to the particular magnifier everyone has in mind.

That's what I wanted to know. Now that I know what I am looking for, I will pick one up before my razors come back from Lynn. This way, I will know not only how a properly honed razor should feel like, I can actually get a visual.

you are better off to spend more dollars and buy a used microscope off ebay or at a microscope repair facility if you plan to hone and or collect razors...the rs is a toy and prolonged use will make you go crazy...

One thing you may wish to consider before purchasing a powerful microscope that has no low settings is that some the lower settings may be of more use to you than the higher magnifications. Consider one that has as low a setting as 50 as good benchmark.

I wanted to buy the RS that seems to work well with razors, because you haven't a fixed distance (could be hard to place the razor under lens with a fixed microscope), 100x magnification and light from above and not under as many micros.

The problem is that they don't sell in Europe nor they ship to. I tried a Spirig pocket microscope http://www.spirig.org/index.php?id=79&L=3, that seems similar, but no site sells them and the fabric wants me to send Credit Card details by fax and I don't like this.

So, any suggestion for an item that could be bought in Europe with internet secure payment?
