Thread: Wapienica Issue

Hello all a brand new member here

I've acquired myself a Wapienica 5/8's straight I purchased on eBay. In the description the seller described honing and stropping the blade very well, so after receiving it in the mail I tried it out.
But once I started using it, I noticed it was grabbing quite a lot and wasn't smooth at all. But still it seemed very sharp.

I looked at the blade under a magnifying glass today and noticed the bevel is uneven along the blade, some parts are high and some are low, I'm wondering if the blade will need to be rehoned and why this is causing it to be so rough when I shave, and how I might get around it. I'm quite new to straight razors so guidance from anyone would be fantastic and appreciated.

Welcome to SRP, Packie. You have acquired what can be a very good shaver. By your description, it is in need of re-honing. I checked the member's list and didn't see any Queensland members that I recognized as having honing skills for your problem. Do contact onimaru55, one of our moderators, via a PM and ask him who, in AU, can hone your razor.

Also, Havachat45 is in Queensland, forgot he is there. Send him a PM first and see what he can do for you.

I'll give them a buzz! Cheers for that mate would be great to get this back into action!
