    When it comes to soaps I have second the advice about lathering just sections of the face starting out. For me discovering the right water to soap ratio to build a slick lather that will last a long time was the hardest part of picking up the hobby. And starting out you will be pretty slow so even if you do build a good lather the chances it won't dry out aren't good.

    If you continually have problems with your soap make sure you don't have hard water (If you do you should know because it will leave spots and taste awful) as that also tends to kill slick lathers.
