    Default Second Attempt

    Good morning gentlemen.

I attempted my second shave with a straight yesterday morning. Really gave myself a good case of razor burn, and to make matters worse, when I switched to my DE razor, I cut my chin!

Sure wish I had my grandfathers (who both died before I was born) around so they could show me how to do this. I'm rereading Dr. Moss' writings and rewatching some of the videos demonstrating straight shaving. I think this new skill set is going to take quite awhile for me to get down.....not that I had other expectations! I just wasn't expecting to set my face on fire! That is definitely a good way to reinforce the following:

    1. Blade angle
    2. Pressure
    3. Adequate lather
    4. Patience

I look forward to becoming an "expert" with this skill!

    Have a good week.

I have been at this or 3 months and I am still learning. Improvement from day 1 has been huge though. I am comfortable now and even though I clean up with a DE or trac II sometimes I am getting better shaves than in the past. I am still learning technique to get a perfect shave but if you would have seen me 2 months ago you would have thought I had been shaving with a butter knife. It gets funner as you go along. just keep at it

Very insightful, Boo. Just keep going slow and you should progress with minimal hurdles.
