Thanked: 0Hello everyone!!
I am new here (and to straight razors...) but I am addicted, and I would like to thank you all for that!!!
Thanks to Bouschie for selling me my first straight razors, great guy and they came 100% shave ready, if all his sales are this good, I will vouche for him any day.
Next on my list will be a good strop, I haven't nicked my paddle yet, but Ill give it a week or two before I move forward.

Welcome to SRP! Glad you found some razors on B/S/T; this is a very safe place to buy shave ready razors from what I've seen. Good luck keeping the addiction reined in to reasonable levels of exuberance!

Thanked: 0No problem Leonard, I feel the same way, and also to recognize the people who go out of their way do do things better.
BTW: wanted to ask you about the W&B you fixed, does soldering the crack up affect the tempering of the blade? or do you need to clip on some heatsinks to keep the cutting edge cool while you are working on it?

Thanked: 634I think I put something on the site under show and tell.
It came out great. I wrapped blade in wet paper towels and passed the blade back and forth so not to over heat blade. Sanded excess solder off so all you see is a line of silver solder where crack was. Honed it. Shave was so great I decided to keep it and put my Ralf Aust up for sale on B-S-T.

Thanked: 481Welcome to the forum!
Solder melts around 370 degrees Fahrenheit. Steel begins to change temper between 350 and 400 degrees. So yes, it likely did soften the heated section of the blade some.
Good to hear that it still shaves well though. Keep us up to speed on how well the blade holds the edge bouschie.
