Thanked: 133Strop position
Shaving has been going smooth but was curious if anyone else had their strop at a similar height that I use. I have the strop in my bedroom and the top of the strop (part attached to hook) is at eye level. I usually see most people have the strop at a waist height and wanted to know if anyone else had theirs higher up. Have a good evening all
Also my koraat came in, will be shaving with it in a day or two, can't wait for that.

Thanked: 3795In my old house, I had a bathroom in the basement and there happened to be a couple of eye bolts at eye level outside of the door. Because they already were there, and because of basic laziness, my strops hung at that level for 10 years.
At our new house I have my strops attached to a horizontal stair railing that is at waist level. Even though I had been doing it for ten years with them hanging higher, I found that I preferred the strops to be at waist level.

Thanked: 133I never thought to try out different heights, will try some out later although I am thinking I am probably going to keep the same height.

I mounted mine at the counter top level. Or, when traveling to the middle door hinge pin. Also have used a closed drawer holding it shut with my thigh.
For me, I'm more able to keep even tension in both directions that way. My arm and hand also move easier in the horizontal plane.
YMMV!
