Default right hand over left, left hand holding razor

did it, and got a nasty pretty deep slice on my right index finder next to the fingernail.
man, i tell ya, i knew it the second it happened, that I had lost concentration for that split second.
Looked like the bathroom scene from Psyco! blood was pouring out.
stepped back, wiped off my face, towel and direct pressure.
checked my brandy new ralf aust making sure I did no damage. rinsed it and dryed it and then 40 linen, 70 leather.

    started to feel somewhat faint.
took a seat in the other room, phone close at hand in case 911 was forthcoming.
bled for like 20 minutes before I got it under control.

    ah, better. got a grip.
    2 salt tabs, press on....
when back in and finished my BBS shave.

( haven't figured out how to post pics yet, I would have taken one w/my good hand to post. )

Finger is sore. lesson learned. but did finish with a nice shave.

    evening gents

I feel your pain. That was how I got my first straight cut and my third.

I did hit the like button, but I have to say, I'm glad it was your finger. I have gotten a few good gashes too.

It was the "brandy new ralf aust" that's to blame ;-)

I always have fishing line and a carpet needle close at hand. :-)

I both cut myself and dinged a razor on the faucet before getting muscle memory skill in handling a straight.

Knowing I would ruin the my first strop, I started with a Whipped Dog beginner's. Unfortunately, I upgraded to a Straight Razor Designs English Bridal Leather strop before I was ready. I can still use it, though will replace the leather piece one of these days.

what I was actually doing was rinsing my blade and under the faucet and both hands crossed during one split second.
    that ain't gunna happen again.
