I recently acquired a small collection from a widow and would like help with identifying and cleaning up the razors without ruining them. I have photos but do not know how to post them. All help would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard,,,,,,,,,,,Attachment 269625
You can save your photos to your own computer & the text box that you just posted in will pull the photo from your computer & place it on the forum.
Read some of the threads in the "Restoration" area of the forum for ideas on how to clean your razors.

Here is one of the Razors (hope I posted the Picture correctly)
Welcome aboard, the razor looks as though it should clean up nicely. One thing I'll tell you, be careful of the gold wash on the blade. It doesn't take much at all to scrub or polish that away for good.
Some great advice has already been given, read, read, read. Check in the workshop thread and the library for restoration tips and advice. Also consider sending it out to be done professionally, not judging your skills. Reason being a razor can be ruined very quickly and this razor is in good shape.
Either way ask anything you need and enjoy.
Well this is what we are here for. Start sharing pics and the fellas here will happily guide you.
Some quick things, mothers mag and aluminum polish, old tooth brush, wd40 and 0000 steel wool will all get you started polishing and cleaning these up. If you share pics of all 13 it will help us help you. I would advise you hold off on the one blade you shared until you build a bit of a skill set. Start with one that doesn't have the gold on the blade.
Start posting them in the show and tell area or restoration/ customs thread. It will get you more exposure and help :)
Welcome to SRP. You could send one or two out for a pro hone to get you started. Learn how to strop and shave first.
Sent from a moto x far far away
I suppose the first question is, do you plan on using this newfound collection? That is, would you like to be able to shave with any of them?
When sharing pictures, pick ones that show the razor overall, just the makers mark and just the blade. The box typically adds very little information. There is a ton of information both on this site and with its members, and you will find most members quite willing to share. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Your location might be a handy bit when people are try to direct you to other resources. It does not have to be exact, just a general idea.
Yes Sir I do intend on finding one in the collection to use.

going to start posting pics. just getting started so all information is welcome.
The last one in the pictures is the one i would start with
What do I do to get it ready... totally new.
I posted a few more I have under those pics also.
The yellow scaled one (with no gold wash) at the top of post 14 would be the one I would start with.
It has a lot of hone wear and looks like the blade might have a frown.
I don't think you can damage it much more by learning blade restoration with it.
Step one: Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date!
I've cut myself more doing clean ups than I have shaving. :(
I would tend to agree with chriswilson10. I'd start with metal polish and see what that reveals. I always go with least invasive process first
Hi and welcome. Some of these look they will clean up easily with tje steel wool and polish. Good luck
Which one would be the best to get started shaving with for a beginner?
I would love any feedback on the individual razors. (age, history, price...)
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far!
I'd say as far as use goes the last picture would be a good starter after honed properly. I don't have any history on it, and we don't do valuations. It's a buyer's market so what it's worth to one may not be as the other. But I'd say honestly once clean and honed any of these will be great razors except the really honed out one. I'd learn on that dude.
No problem. Best way to figure value is ebay, find auctions that have ended on a particular razor you have. This will give an idea anyway of some numerical value. You have a good selection of blade and more than one will work well for you starting out. Again not beating a dead horse, the one is not going to work well for a beginner IMO.
