Thread: how long does an edge last?

i,ve just had my 2 str8s honed and next week i,m off to turkey for 7 weeks will a strop be enough to keep an edge, or should i paste my spare strop? or i,ve got one of them polish hones,or should i leave the razors at home and pick up again when i get back?
ps i havent done any proper honing yet so dont want to ruin my good razors, but i dont want to get out of practice either.

I would definitely take something along to touch up the edge. A pasted paddle sounds like a good idea to me.

If your blades have been honed properly and you know how to strop, you should get, at minimum, two months out of your blades before you need to do a touch up!
But if you are relatively new it might be wise to bring a hone along for a touch up.
