Thread: Rust on razor

Hello, my razor has been attacked by a little rust, in the pictures i havent made any attempt to remove the rust yet, so much of it might just peel off.
But im wondering how does this look, im guessing it can be fixed? also, would i need to set up an new edge since the edge is a little attacked? thanks!

For the rust I would first try some good metal polish (Mother's Mag & Aluminum, Flitz, etc.) and a cotton swab to avoid ruining the gold wash. If that doesn't work use some very fine steel wool and WD-40 and be very careful to stay away from the gold wash, once you loose it, its gone. After the steel wool, try the metal polish again.

For the edge I would send it out to a pro for honing, its well worth the money because if you don't know what you are doing you can ruin a razor pretty quick, don't ask me how I know............

Thanks for feedback! i will try rust removal soon. So as for the edge, it definitaly needs to be edged again?

You have one spot of rust that comes right down onto the bevel and that is an edge killer. It does need to be honed again. If you mask the gold wash it will add a layer of oops protection.

If you look at the rust in the bevel under magnification I'm guessing you will see why it needs to be honed.

I had the same problem.

MAAS Metal polish will take the spots off.

Edge looks like it need to be honed.
