    Default Finally bbs neck!

Hey guys. Thanks to the posts in this forum on problem areas such as the neck, I finally managed to get a bbs neck this morning - and nick free too! I also tried the hanging hair test on my Dovo Inox, I could actually hear the hair pop when I brought it across the edge! I've been stropping this razor thinking that I've been doing it correctly and based on my shaves and the hht I think I'm on the right track - I used the library for info on this and many posts on stropping.

My problem was always finding a comfortable way of holding the razor to get at areas for the final pass. For me the final pass that gave me the bbs was going on an angle towards the centre of my chin on each side of my neck - I just had to find the right grip on the razor. For me the grip that works best is the have the scales straight out (in line with the blade). Also, practice with my left hand (I'm right handed) - this took a bit of time, but the results of sticking with shaving with both hands is paying off, just takes time though. Something else that really helped is stopping if it doesn't feel right and taking the time to make it right - for example, if the lather is dry - add some water, if the angle of the blade is not right - correct it. For my neck I have the blade really close to my neck - I have to remember I'm wanting to cut HAIR not a layer of SKIN! lol

    Congrats Gary.
Shaving my neck ATG is by far and away the most challenging skill I've encountered in wet shaving. I've had similar experiences to yours.

Woot Woot. I am happy to hear that you have made enough progress that your shaves and edge are both being maintained. Getting good at stropping is as big of an accomplishment as the great shaves.
