    Default A better shave today

Today's shave was the best so far.
I attribute my BBS success to a combination of things: reading and rereading the many useful threads on this website, the Wade Butcher 5/8 razor I bought from Gary (a.k.a. Traveller), and the many many pre-shave passes on the strop (linen and leather) I had not done previously. I am happy to say I did not even need to touch up with a safety razor for much of my face. Of course the chin, neck and philtrum are still a challenge but they're not as unapproachable as before.

I've also come to recognize (as I'm sure you all have) shaving less as a thoughtless routine and more as a enjoyable ritual in my day (or night). Shaving with a straight razor has allowed me to slow down and appreciate what I raced through before. And each new accomplishment makes shaving that much more enjoyable.

Well, no more blathering on. I'll let you know if and when I've mastered the chin and neck.

I shave with a str8 for the same reasons . I'd never thought that shaving could be fun , but it is now . When I shave my neck , I point my chin upward and tilt my head to the left when I shave the right side , and tilt my head to the right to shave the left side . Shaving my chin is still a little tricky , I work my way through it slowly . Happy shaving .....Dave
