    Default Shaving my neck

Im fairly new to straight razor shaving. I moved from a Feather shavette to a Dovo and a Boker. I really find them much more forgiving. Im now shaving with rarely a nick or cut except for my lower neck (on my right.) I am constantly nicking or cutting the lower right edge. I notice the grain moves from left to right. I've been trying to shave against the grain on my neck (moving from right to left) but I can seem to master that without a cut. Any ideas?

Some areas (In my opinion) Are just not possible to get the blade to go in the direction you really want. Just get as close as you can in that direction. I learned to hold the heal in one place and sweep with the tip. This gets those spots better but not perfect. Just keep trying different ways and be sure to stretch the skin. That is where your going to snag it at the bottom of your neck. Pulling the skin up so that its not at the bottom of the neck will help. Good luck and be careful when trying new ways.

When I shave my neck I do three passes. First downward. Second upward from side to center. Finish upward bottom to top.

Yes you can if you are comfortable with it. I prefer not to change hands. I change my grip instead. Most important is not which hand but that you stretch the skin.

I can't thanks you enough for your help. Is that your dominant hand you're using throughout? Here's the spot I have a lot of trouble withName: SHAVING1.jpg

Yes I use my dominant hand. When shaving the neck raise your chin tilting your head to the opposite side. This will help stretch the skin. You can use your other hand to pull the skin also.

The things that help me a lot are skin tight, pressure nil and the angle on my neck almost flat. I cannot manoeuvre a side to center stroke on that part of my neck

My left side of my chin i always use to cut. It seemed to grow thicker there than anywhere else. And it was much more resistant. It took me a good year or two to figure out a method. I basically make a pass in that area in the upward direction just for that spot. The rest of the face doestn seem to need it like that spot does.
