Thanked: 20Challenging spot
About 3 weeks into SR shaving now and I cant seem to get the right side of my neck (my right) below the jawline without a cut. The grain there seems to run from right to left. I always seem to feel some stubble there after a couple of passes

I also struggle a bit with both sides of my jaw. I have begun to shave horizontally from mouth to ear on the second pass and it seems to help. The other thing, as you hear from almost everyone, is to learn to stretch the skin! This simple skill seems to make a huge difference in your shave. You will also have to learn how your hair grows and what the best way to tackle your face is with the razor!
I still have a lot to learn but feel I have come a long way in a relatively short time. Continue the quest for the perfect shave my friend!!

Thanked: 3226Yes, skin stretching is quite important. What ever side of your neck you are doing look up in the opposite direction of the side you are doing and jut your chin out. At the same time pull down on your skin at the base of your neck to further tighten the skin you are trying to shave. Watch your blade angle while doing this as you have to change it as you go down on the stroke to follow the curve of the skin. All sorts of facial gymnastics goes on to try and stretch your skin while shaving.

An old favorite:

It is a bit intuitive but works well when you figure it out. I use a view that I would see in a mirror and print it out.
I have six different directions of growth and It really saved my skin!
If you have a cowlick, you may find that directly opposite that point on your skull, you have a similar hair distribution on your throat.
Have fun!
