DFS is good enough for the daily shaver, and the occasional guy may overdo it, cause he's trying to get the best to last. Your only a month into this, still a newborn, so don't worry about it. It's only sonething you can feel rubbing in the ATG direction, nobody sees it.

First and Foremost I Do Not Believe In the BBS (Baby Butt Smooth) Shave. I believe in a CCC (Clean Close & Comfortable) some may refer to it as DFS (Damn Fine Shave).
I typically do a one pass shave, the only place I can feel any 'stubble' is under my jawline and it's not much. In fact no one notices it as it's probably less than a 128th of an inch tall if that.
I shake my head when I read of guys doing 3, 4 even 5 pass shaves chasing that elusive BBS shave. They 'may' get that BBS but I'd bet a Dollar to a Dog Turd that they didn't enjoy the shave and more than likely have a red face and a lot of stinging afterwards.
I used to hate to shave, I never shaved on days off or vacations, now I look forward to enjoying a nice CCC Shave.

Thanked: 292I usually settle for a close comfortable shave as I have a fast growing coarse beard. Even if I manage to get a BBS shave, an hour or two later it is no longer BBS, so it does not make sense to make the extra effort for BBS.

DFS is good enough for me.
If I'm paying close attention I can get the two spots on my neck that I have a hard time with, but under the jaw line never comes out clean unless I spend a lot of time and then irritation sets in. So its not worth it. I shave at night before bed so by the time I get up in the morning the whiskers are already starting to sho but that fine with me. Hoping its helping me to cover some of the ugly.
Dont worry about the BBS. Its not worth the hassle. Do the best you can. Play with angles and be happy with the outcome. Try new things when you think about it or hear someone talk about a new way but dont worry about it if you cant see it.It's just Sharpening, right?

At only around thirty shaves, I think a little stubble is normal. As time passes you will learn different strokes that better deal with the direction of your beard growth. Lightening up the pressure on the blade will help too. No harm in cleaning the spots up with a d/e if they really bug you.
After years, I do 3 passes every shave, WTG, XTG, ATG. I also do what I call a "hollow of the neck" pass at the end to deal with the different and odd way the hair grows in the area.
It will get better with time.

Thanked: 3226Roy, that is one bet you'd loose in my case. My daily shave is a 4 passer and I wind up with a close comfortable shave with no red face and no stinging to speak of after applying alum and AS post shave. I enjoy my shaves and endeavour to get the best shave that I can. Is it BBS, maybe the odd time. Believe me I would not do it if it was torture.
I think that is the point, not to turn shaving into torture by trying too hard and pushing past what you are capable of or even need. You need to please yourself, nobody has ever come up to me and said Holy Hanna you have a close.

Just go for a comfortable shave. A man's face isn't supposed to be BBS. My TC's worth.
