Congrats again man.
Sounds like it was very enjoyable. For myself I just received my new brush I won from Gio's Sale. AND WOW that was the best shave ever with my new honed razor I did up Monday Night, and the brush with its HUGE amounts of Lather.
This is why I cherish this, and love the sensation of shaving again.

Thanks for the support, guys! I shaved again tonight. Once again, first pass, pretty nice, second pass, well, it wasn't quite as nice as the first time I shaved. I felt it pulling a bit more, and it just seemed like I had to work harder to get the shave done. I'm guessing it's because the blade just isn't as sharp as it was the first time, so it has less edge to keep. Can't say for sure though.
My pasted paddle strop should be in tomorrow, Friday at the latest. Any suggestions for a progression on it? It's Tony's 4-sided classic strop with 3 pasted sides (1.0, .5, and .25, IIRC). I'm looking into getting a hone setup. I'm wondering if that new DMT 8000 grit hone would be a good one? I imagine it'd cut pretty fast, so my guess is that I wouldn't even need a 4000 grit hone at all, just the 8000 and a finisher. Plus, the DMT wouldn't need flattening, either. And, I'd probably only need like 3 passes to bring the razor back up! Does this sound anywhere near correct?
Any suggestions on blades that hold their edge for a long time? I hear Friodurs are great for this, wedges, too. I just can't seem to find any wedge blades though! A Damascus blade would probably work great for me, but I don't think I can quite go that way just yet. Especially financially!
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
Joe
