Stropping question
Good afternoon everyone and merry Christmas
Here is a picture of a razor that I would like to ask a question before trying to strop. How would I place this razor on the strop. I ask this question because it has a higher point near the heel of the razor. I believe if I put it fully on the Strop it will be raised a small amount near the heel. should I place the razor on the strop so the higher part of the heel doesn’t affect the angle. I hope I am explaining my question correctly.
Thanks Roger

Thanked: 1081Hi Rodger
First, Merry Christmas!
Second, yes you should keep the double stabilizers away from the strop.
Good luck

You will notice on some used strops that the edge of the strop is a little worn. This is from trying to keep the stabilizer off of the strop and getting on the strop. I find its not too big of a deal and I'm not sure it will make much difference sense the strop flexes but I try to keep the stabilizer off of my strops as much as possible.
It's just Sharpening, right?

This looks like a modern Dovo...
Strop it gently and if necessary you can strop slightly canted
so the stabilizing ridges near the heel do not interfere.
A strop is flexible and the weigh on the strop light so it really does not matter.
The bevel was set from the spine to the edge so having the spine in contact
parallel to the edge should be fine. If the 1/4inch of the heal does not touch the
strop it will still shave.
What strop and how wide is your strop. A narrow strop and an X stroke can make
this a non issue. You do not need to use all of a wide strop.
Smooth and light...

When I strop a razor with a single or even double stabilizer I just strop it and have never had any issues
