I am not opposed to moving it to the following saturday. What does everyone think of the 18th?

Thanked: 0The 18th is fine by me, though I might have to ask more questions on the forum instead of in person if we postpone. That might be preferable anyway. On the other hand, I might actually be shaving straight by then and have completely different n00b questions.
Just my $0.02

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, BUT, my father will be visiting from out of state Saturday and Sunday and he's not a straight shaver sooooo.... Again, I'll be available during the week but not on the weekend of the 18th. I could go for the following weekend or just catch everyone the next time we get together. Sounds like a nice size group is forming so no need to hold up just for me!

I might be able to join the group on the 18th. And, I have some good news - tonight I was able to get 3 of my razors to pass the "hanging hair test". Guess I'm learning something from this site. I'll be out of touch for most of the next week (hopefully back by the 18th), and will check this thread for time and location when I get back.

Thanked: 0We'll work out a time/date. I'm pretty available (no fixed hours, self-employed), so I'll go back to lurker-mode and confirm if you guys find a good time.
Also, if we're waiting until next weekend, I should have tried my first SE shave by then (if all goes well).

Thanked: 0I am back!
Gentlemen - I am back in town and ready to set up our little meeting.
Give me some dates and preferred locations for the meet - Saturday lunch has been suggested, this Saturday would work for me, anyone have a problem with it?
I need to run all of this by John Crowley too by the by, so nothing is cast in stone - if not this Saturday, would next work as well?
OK, location - mid-cities, and Arlington have been bandied about, I do not care where it is...So lets say Arlington, Parks Mall area or Lincoln Square area at 30? Any specific suggestion of a place that might be able to accommodate say 6 crazy people with sharp objects and stuff? You know Spring Creek may be an option, I don;t think they would look twice . Come up with some places, and lets get this together! Also, think about what each of you would like to see - I am going to definitely bring the Moss scuttle, several cases and some of my best blades, a few Wapi's - is there anything else that John Crowley or anyone else has that they would like to see/smell/touch? I have several of Tonys strops, various and many MB and TGC soaps, etc. and I have convinced John to bring some of his cologne testers - but I would really like for him to bring some blades too - if you don't know who or what I am talking about, John owns www.shavingshop.com and is local to the Metroplex, and has agreed to come and bring some stuff! If there is anything on his site you want to see, you need to let me know right away! I am bringing cash too, to make some purchases from John, I am sure I will find something I will like.
OK, that is it - once we get an idea of where and when, I would like to put this up in the main general forum as a get together, and see if we can find some other Metroplex members to show up - will make it fun!
Everyone game?

Next Saturday would work for me (not this weekend - my Dad's visiting from out of state this weekend) and we have discussed CJ's Brewhouse at Matlock and I20 but I am open to other suggestions and Springcreek is right there on Cooper about a mile North of I20. Sounds like a great meeting - I hope everyone would consider next Saturday - I'd hate to miss it! If you do it this weekend, I'll have to catch you next time around!
