    Default Best Shave yet!!!

The value of a good razor has really been brought home. I shaved with the Dovo Black star which I mentioned on another thread. Although it was "factory ready" when i bought it, I didn't hone it but just stropped it on a pasted paddles strop (also new). The results were outstanding. I only do a single pass but with repeated strokes because that's what works for me. The result was a very close shave, almost BBS, with no irritation. The blade even glided so effortlessly over my chin area that I was able to do a little blade buffing and get it as smooth as the sides of my face. I'm eager now to try stropping my other, entry level, Dovo Favorit on the pasted paddle strop to see if I can get similar results.

Is it possible that the wider spine on the Black Star also contributed to the better shave?

    Nice!

A wider spine probably translates into more weight -> momentum and less effort, at equal sharpness of blade and beard prep / resistance than a lighter blade with (typically) a narrow spine

    Cheers
