Thanked: 0cerium oxide
Regarding Cerium Oxide as a honing agent, you folks speak highly of this and recommend getting it in its purest form. Can someone provide me with a web site where one can get some? I know some of you have mentioned SRD, but if that is Straight Razor Design, I did look at the site but didn't see where CO was offered for sale.

Thanked: 13245You need the High Quality Super White CeO2
try Ocean State Abrasives 401-789-9550
sales@ OSabrasives.com
you want 99.99% pure and it is .30~ very very very soft it has nearly zero cutting ability but is will smooth the edge right off the hones beautifully

There is a difference between CrOx and CeO2 very few SR peeps use the CeO2...
CrOx the green stuff is available all over and it varies too
most is .50~ some out there is softer and .30~
I would not call either a "Honing Agent" they are used on a strop to smooth up an edge off the hones or when they tug a bit with some of themLast edited by gssixgun; 11-16-2018 at 06:10 AM.

Thanked: 292As with all abrasives, Cerium Oxide is available in a variety of quality levels and micron sizes. Be sure that what you purchase meets your needs.
