Hi no problem….I was thinking of looking on ebay to buy one or two, where it seems that there are thousands of old and new cut throat (straight) razors. A lot of then look totally clapped out to me.

It’s a bit daunting because I don’t yet have the experience to know what makers produced good razors and ho did not, although I will look out for a Joseph Elliot razor now.

    Joseph Rodgers is my favourite.
There is also W&B which is very good.
John Barber if you are lucky enough to find one (I had 2. One I restored and the other I sold to a fellow SRPer)

There are several more but I haven't tried them.
I am currently restoring a Greaves &son razor, and a Cockhills razor, but they are not yet finished so I don't know how they'll turn out.

George Wostenholm & sons razors are supposed to be good , too and there seems to be plenty of them . I have a John Clarke & son and a Joeseph Elliot that I shave with . They are both good razors , but I like the Elliot better .

Welcome Morturn from another UK Cut Throat shaver

You seem to have read and learned a valuable lesson and bought a good shave ready razor to start you off. The fun is just beginning and the lies to the wife on where those new pieces of shaving equipment came from are about to start

    Good luck Morturn

    Hi Puff

It is interesting that because my wife has just got back from a two week trip to India, in that short space of time I seems to have gained a few…lets say little extras:-

    A handing strop
A best silver tip badger hair brush
    A Norton whetstone
    3 new razors
    Several second hand razors (ebay)
    Two shaving mugs
And some additions to my Trumpers shaving goods

I shall be breaking the news (and possible the bank) very gently while she still has jet lag J
