Thanked: 3Hello from Colorado
Hi all,
My name is Ken and I am a beginner straight shaver. I have just over 30 shaves in and love the experience. Gasman originally told me about this place when I was primarily posting on B&B. I hope to learn a lot here and follow some great threads. Due to life happening I have not been using my straight as often as I wanted to, mostly due to time and a good shave still taking me a little while. I only logged around 10 shaves in the last 3 months when I was shaving almost daily with it. Anyways glad to be here and look forward to interacting with you all.
Ken

Welcome to the forum!
First off, be patient and take your time learning to shave with a straight razor. Its not a race, there is a huge learning curve and if you rush it you may end up with pink lather, you don't want that. Check out the Library and most of your questions will be answered there but if not feel free to ask about any concerns or problems you may encounter along the way. We are here to help, we learn from each other in this community.

Thanked: 3Thanks @DoughBoy68! I've been pretty lucky, as I seem to have picked it up pretty quickly. I can get a SAS or CCS on most days, but it takes me a little while. You can tell due to my time at the sink that I am still very much a neophyte. Very few cuts and the ones I get are very small and not much blood. I much rather straight shave than use my cartridge. My focus is learning my face some more then move to my head (I'm mostly bald) and shave it almost daily.

Welcome! Making time to learn using a straight isn’t always easy. I usually shave at night after the kids have gone to bed, it’s a nice way to relax before bed.

Glad to see ya here Ken. SRP is full of helpful people when it comes to straights. We do have a handful that use a DE. Just the opposite of B&B.
Been wondering how its been going for ya. Yes, a shave does take time. I set the time aside for it as me time. It took the wife a little while to get used to the idea. Now she knows that when im going to shower and shave it could be 35 to 45 minutes. Not that i have to spend that much time. I can enjoy a shave in 20 minutes.
Enjoy your time here. Ask questions and you will get real answers. Not just guessing. It's just Sharpening, right?
