Its true that a DE might be the way to go until things settle down. There is a learning curve on straight shaving and you don't want to walk into an interview with a half shaved face or razor burn that makes it look like you've been stuck in a life raft on the ocean for a week.

On the other hand, if you're determined and patient, hey a straight will work.

LOL you American's love the Ramen eh? I guess Mr. Noodles isn't bad for a meal the odd time, but I can't see how college kids eat that all the time.

See if you can understand it this way: more money for beer!

    Maeglin,
You've gotten some great advice and I just want to mention another option. I understand that Lynn Abrams (AdjustMe69) keeps Wapienicas in his personal stock for purchase by new guys like yourself. Obviously he hones them up for you as well. Sooo....You would at very least only shell once for shipping and get a great razor, well honed.

My first straight came from JoshEarl and it was a great purchase for a very fair price. Can't go wrong with Josh's goods.

Whenever we finally have our N. Texas Roundtable Lunch at CJ's (or if you want to try to meet up on our own somewhere in DFW), I may have worked out a free strop for you .
Also, if you would use it, I have a Gem Single Edge Safety Razor that I could part with, too (not everyone agrees, but I love the Gems - better than DEs to me)...... Just paying it forward, if it helps you, let me know and then pay it forward some day yourself.

    Finally, welcome to SRP

I'll PM AdjustMe69 and see what he's asking on those. I did get an offer from JoshEarl, though he's moving right now and it'll be a few days before he can let me know what he has for sure.

If you're willing to meet me sometime with a strop (I could pay you a bit, if you like, but admittedly not much) PM me and we'll pick a time and location. I could also PM you my phone number if you'd like to take this offsite.

As far as the Gem goes, I'd be willing to try. I'm really trying to find a solution to the irritation I get from shaving, as I know I'll have to go to daily shaving soon. Right now, I only shave when I have to go to a client's office. Most days I can get by with stubble. But I still have red bumps on my neck 24/7.

Thanks again to everyone who's commented.

Ramen fills 3 of the five basic food groups (three of six for some ). Pasta, fat and salt. Now you only need to add alcohol and coffee (and if you fall into the "some" group - chocolate)

My name is Ken and I am a former RN abusor......
