Horn can be treated with neets foot oil. Be sure it is 100% neets foot oil.
Put the scales in a zip lock bag, cover with the oil and let it soak for 2 or 3 days. Sand to your desired lustre

Some blades were magnetized Purely marketing.

Don't know. Shave at a speed you are comfortable with

I prefer a hanging strop. Strictly personal preference.

Don't paste your strop. Buy another strop. You cannot unpaste a strop

All of your questions are discussed at length in different threads. Use the search function.

    Good luck
Hi, I was interested because of my reading, but I am not thinking of trying to restore razors, or hone, or anything more difficult than shaving (which is plenty hard enough).

Other than getting the hang of stropping well of course but I reckon thats compulsory.

Er, worm holes?? Perhaps I might look around for an all metal SR.

You will see holes in old horn that has not been properly cared for.
Varmints should not be an issue with new horn that is properly maintained
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Sounds like were about the same, Steve. Head down, straight forward, hell with the consequences.

Don't reach so far, bro. Took all of us a long time to get real good with a straight. I've been at it for over 30 years, never obtained a BBS shave till 2015. Mostly had to do with the keenness of my razors, the rest was all me.

Once I gave up the search and just started shaving, I found the technique that worked for me. I've reached the point, that I can complete a 4 pass shave, including prep, and clean up, in about 15 minutes. But who wants to rush it.!

    Relax, chill a bit., enjoy......
