Thread: Just to introduce myself...

Hi everybody,

I found out this terrific site a few days ago and now I become a member here.

I'm from Italy, near Venice, and I'm currently waiting for my firs DOVO straight razor... I decided to try out a straight razor because I feel really uncomfortable to shave with electric razors and 3-4-5 bladed safe razors... I hope I'll find a good alternative in straight razors...

I already found strop, as far for the wet stone... how often am I supposed to hone my razor? I haven't found any info about that...

I orderer my new DOVO from classicshaving.com with the pre-honing service, as suggested in the posts for the beginners , but I have no idea of how long will the sharp edge of my razor could last...

Well, the frequency of the honing depends on your beard type and the steel of the razor. Typical usage of a honed edge would be from ~7 to 20 shaves, again heavily dependent on your beard type. If you are blessed with the typical Italian tan, and wiry beard, you can expect to hone your razor more often.

Again, read carefully about stropping, as it is not difficult to dull the razor with improper technique...
