I agree I have been using a plain old wooden cigar box with very good results.

One member here mentioned storing his in a tool cabinet from the firm Gerstner...nice, but also wa-a-a-y expensive ($300+). Afer looking at metal, wood, plastic and too small, way too big, just for jewelry, I thought about a fountain pen collection chest...but wasn't sure is could hold really long razors. I finally found a nice chest, oak, at a discount, that will hold many razors, hones, pastes, oils, etc. all in one spot. The tight woodworking helps keep the moisture out, but I am adding some desiccant packs (one in each drawer) just to be sure. You can find them on the net, 15-20 for 65 cents or so a piece. I have not found a walk-in sotre to get them, although a camera or gun shop may have them.

Here is a pic of the tool case:

    Overall Length 20" x Overall Width 9" x Overall Height 11 1/2" x Weight 18 lbs.

    Features include:
*American Red Oak construction with tongue and groove joinery for strength and durability.*
*Hardwood design provides protection from moisture.*
    *Green felt-lined interior provides cushioning.*
*Hand rubbed stain with lacquer finish.*
    *Polished chrome plated hardware.*

So I don't risk getting slapped with pirate smiley or dinged for not being in the venor forum, PM me if you want to know the price and link. I am not selling these, just passing on the info. Also, the desiccant packs come in both one-time use and recharge-in-the-oven use.

    Default Cloth Wrap

I have a fancy metal box with a foam lining, cut to allow seven razors, that a friend in the fountain pen world cooked up for me. But for the razors I have bought off eBay and am (slowly) learning to hone, I've got another storage method:

This wrap is something like the deerskin wrap Classic Shaving sells, but this wrap is cloth, with an inner lining and cotton batting in between to cushion the razors and a cloth rope thingie to tie it up. Works great and I think would be good for travel also.

The blue cloth wrap is very nice...has a Japanese look to it...and what better for razors!

The cigar boxes work great too, esp if you can get cedar, put a nice lining in them...maybe a silica pack...great for organizing and they look classic too!

Here is the link for the chest....it is a Gerstner, but is one of their smaller/less expensive ones. If I had Lynn's collection, then I would get the one on wheels with 10+ drawers.

Here is the link, as requested:

The site is for furniture makers/woodworkers, selling tools, kits, hardware, etc.

    Enjoy!

Well, the chest arrived. I discovered why it was less expensive than other Gerstner products...it was made several thousand miles to the east. That having been said, the workmanship, fit and finish, and feel are excellent! mortise and tenon corner, smooth drawer action, solid hardware, nice interior finish. I have it sitting in the kitchen, airing out (I love the smell of polyurethane in the morning...it smells like...refinishing <with apologies to Robert Duval>). A great item. No regrets.
