    Newbie Smewbie. It's just a word. I've been shaving with straights for 3 or 4 years now and while I feel comfortable with it, I still feel that I'm a beginner. Never tried honing. Of course it'd be nice to have had someone teach me. I try to remember - in traditional martial arts one big lesson you learn is having a black belt means you are a serious student.

    I agree, I did Shotokan for 15 years and my black belt was when the real learning started.
