    Default just saying thanks

this is not to anyone in particular, just this website as a whole. i have learned quite a bit over the past few weeks about many things i was doing wrong. i want to say thank you.

i had my razor honed at a local shop and thought it was sharp, however after reading about what some of the honers here are able to do, i was disappointed. could not get the HHT to pass. still shaving good, just not what you hope for. then i really read more into stropping and learned i was still doing it wrong. after 40-50 passes on the strop the last few shaves, HHT very successful. so cool you want to sit and 'pop' hairs for hours. anyway, now i feel better about my honer here locally and would recommend again.

i was not getting good lather. new brush, new technique, much improved. better lather now and a much better closer shave. BBS on the cheeks, and as close as any mach 3 ever got on my chin and neckline. still a learning curve though.

all in all, the areas that made me want to quit str8 shaving has made me enjoy it even more. i appreciate all the advice i have gotten, just by reading through old threads. if anything, i do thank lynn for a great website.

Glad to hear you are doing well with your shaving . I started shaving with a str8 about 5-1/2 months ago , and I don't want to shave with anything else . If it wasn't for this forum I may have never learned to shave with a str8 . I have been casually collecting str8's for over 20 years , and I was always curious about what it would be like to actually shave with one , but had no idea how to do it properly . Now I can hone my razors nice and sharp , and the shaves are excellent , not true BBS but close enough . I couldn't have done it without this forum , and the people on it . Thank you all .

And then some of us were just too stubborn to give up! Our victories all the more sweet, and then to run across this forum to find all our discoveries justified!

The people here rock....if it weren't for the info here and the guidance, I'd probably look like I'd been in a brawl with Edward Scissorhands......
