    Default What is the Strop Conditioner

    I have purchased a strop and would like to know
    what is the conditioner that is used on the strop?

    Mink oil or neetsfoot oil. A 50/50 mix of lanolin and glycerin will do the job. Tony also sells a strop dressing that was $5 per bottle last time I checked.

    Just kidding. I really don't have a clue (many would say truer words were never spoken), but your strop provider ought to be able to answer that question for you.

    If yours is a vintage stop, saddle soap gently applied and wiped with a clean cloth will help clean and condition the leather. Shaving lather will work similarly.

    Thank you for the input. I though the mink oil will do the trick.
    I did nt know about the shave cream!
