I have a Feather Artist Club DX on its way from Classicshaving, so can't yet comment on what it's like. Lots of info and reviews over at B&B though.

Thanked: 0I've been using my artist club (cheapest model) for about a year now and couldn't be happier. the prof. super blades clear my ridiculously harsh beard like nothing else.

I have the artst club rg. I have recently bought it to be my traveling razor. I like it a lot. I got superb shaves with it, though I like my regular straights better.
In hotel rooms I just don't want to deal with stropping, moisture, ...Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

In line with Bruno's post, I like my Feather a lot, but I like my conventional straights better. That's not really a criticism of the Feather. In fact, I prefer it to every other razor that I have tried except for my favorite straight razors. I will say that no one seems to be neutral about a Feather, you either like it or you don't.
p.s. Yes, Bruno, I got another one right away. Thanks again.

Thanked: 0I have an Feather RG Professional and Japanese Style non-folding model.
With practice these razors offer a fine shave. As previously mentioned, it is a love or hate relationship with the Feathers. Honing and stropping is a skill that needs to be learned well in order to maintain a traditional straight razor. The Feather eliminates this aspect of straight razor shaving and it is debatable as to whether you are commiting an act of sacrilege by using a disposable blade. As far as the actual shave, IMHO, an open blade razor is an open blade razor & needs to be respected. Pro Guard blades do not mean "nick proof". I learned that firsthand. In all, I like them.
