Thanked: 0Half decent shave - for once.
Well, I shaved off a weeks growth this morning, I was going to use the cartridge but thought I'd try with a Wapi. I was surprised at how well it went. Still a fair amount of pulling, but no cuts or nicks; the first str8 shave I've not needed the stypic for!
But, on the first pass I just can't seem to get the area under my chin - down to my adams apple. I had to do that with the cartridge.
I usually shave up from the adams apple, but I just can't seem to get a comfortable approach with the straight, any tips?? I seem to be getting a hang of it, so maybe I just need a bit of time to sort out the trouble areas.
The cool thing is, 12hrs later and it's as smooth as if I'd just used a cartridge!

Thanked: 9Good to hear
I mostly use left hand to shave up on the right side of my neck / Adam's apple. Right hand for the left side.
If the razor is not sharp enough you may have some trouble getting the tough spots clean - or it may just be technique. (And / or prep... LOL)
Good luck

Practice. Just go lightly and do what you are comfortable with. It will get easier and easier. Then push the envolope a little more.... and a little more, etc. You'll get there. And be sure your razor is keen.

I shave my neck from the bottom up on my second pass. I hold the tang between my thumb and forfinger with the scales pointed downward and the edge pointed upward. The rest of my fingers are lightly encircircling the scales but not really holding them just helping support the proper blade angle. I can then make nice upward strokes on the left side of my neck with my right hand and vice-versa.

Thanked: 0Cheers for the responses guys. I also find that if I use a faster sweep I get a lot less pulling. Is this indicative that perhaps my blade isn't sharp enough - bear in mind i've got a very tough beard.
