Thread: Excellent first shave!!

Hi all,

Newbie here.. Excellent place for str8 research. Thanks Lynn!!! I got two new Dovos from ebay and sent them straight to Lynn for honing... I got them back in time for a maiden shave on my birthday. I sent Lynn a PM asking if I should just wipeoff the oil, strop and shave or just wipe off the oil and shave. He said I could just go and shave without strop and that's what I proceeded to do.

It was excellent!!!!! I lathered up the soap, put on some pre shave oil and applied the lathered soap to my face. I went wtg and the hairs came right off.. I shaved with the spine close to my face.. I lathered up again after the first run and went atg for the second run... It was so much better than I'd expected.. My only mishap was when I accidentaly nicked my nose when I was going wtg for my upper lip...


I have a l'occitane boars hair travel brush (waiting for a AOS brush I just won from Ebay) and sandalwood soap from AOS. I can't wait for the hairs to come back for another shave!!!!

Congrats . You did your research , and didn't jump into this half-assed , and got your reward . Be careful you don't get overconfident (like I did) and get too casual with your razor . Confidence is good , but overconfidence can get messy .

It does seem you did your research. Glad to see you had a great shave. Their are few things more rewarding than a good str8 shave. Enjoy.
