Thanked: 0Rust!
Greetings! I'm new to the forums, but have been browsing the site for a while now. I've done some searching and haven't found an answer to my question, but I could've overlooked something. Forgive me if this is a double post.
I've been using a straight razor for several months now and I'm pretty particular about making sure my razor is dry and properly stored. I must've missed some water a couple of times because my razor is starting to form rust spots.
My question is how does one remove rust from a razor? The rust hasn't reached the edge yet, and it's just some small spots, but I'm not about to shave with it, just in case. I've tried soaking it over night in Barbacide to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any tips you might have!
Regards,
Christopher

For light rust that I find on Ebite blades I just use MAAS and a cotton swab, works great. I've not seen any come back after that treatment ether... So I'll keep doing it till it doesn't work

Thanked: 0If you'll pardon my ignorance, what is MAAS?
I'm using a Dovo Solingen "Best Quality" (not purchased on eBay, but I get your drift). I'm certainly sold on straight razor shaving and I think I've gotten my technique down. Should I upgrade my razor or keep at it with this one?
Thanks for the reply!

Keep working with that one, it's good. But than again more razors are just fun
MAAS is a fine polishing compound, if you have gold wash on the blade though... it will take it off

Thanked: 0Maas is available at Walmart in the cleaning section. I just bought a small tube for under $4.00.

Thanked: 0Thanks again for the tips. Looks like I'll be visiting the local mega mart.
The blade doesn't have any gold wash on it. Could be an idea for a future razor!
