First shave with Genco
Today was my first shave with a straight razor!
Overall I think it went pretty well!
I got my shave ready Genco from heavydutysg135 and prepared myself as normal for a DE shave. I have a strop on order from Tony but David said the Genco was good for 1 maybe 2 shaves without stropping. After watching several videos and Lynn's several times I sat forth.
Seemed a little awkward at first but quickly became used to the blade. I shaved the sides under my sideburns and a little on my neck all WTG.
I did nick myself once not from shaving but not being used to the length of the blade I caught a bit of skin on my left cheek. A little styptic and good to go.
Finished off with my DE.
Thanks David for a great razor!!

Congratulations on your first shave!!! I'm a fellow newbie and am three shaves ahead of you. As many say, with practice it keeps getting better and better. I've already seen some gradual improvement in my shaves.
And, my razor might be one of your razor's ancestors. I have a Geneva. From the information I've found on the message boards here The Geneva Cutlery Co. began in 1902 in Geneva, NY. In 1935, they were bought out by Case. Case moved the operations to Bradford, PA, and continued to produce razors under the name Genco until 1955. I'm glad I saw your post. I was wandering about the age of my razor. The person I bought it from, JoshEarl, mentioned there was a posting about the history of Geneva and Genco that would give me an idea of it's age. I almost forgot to look it up.

If you got one from Josh, I'll bet it was in great shape.
