    Default Newbie shaving update

Last weekend I tried a 2 pass shave with my Dovo 5/8, 1 wtg pass and 1 xtg pass. Everything was fine until the xtg pass. I managed to give myself 2 pretty good cuts. I needed a week to let these bad cuts heal, so I shaved very carefully all week with a DE. Tonight I broke out the straight and went at it again. This time I did 2 wtg passes. Not exactly BBS but I got a decent shave and no weepers, irritation or cuts. I've only been using the straights for a few weeks and realize it will take me some time to get good at this. Tonights shave was encouraging and I know each shave will get better. I plan to take it slow and improve my technique.

    John,

Slow and steady wins the race!! I'm five shaves into learning to shave with a straight and I consider any nick-free shave a triumph at this point. Congratulations on your nick-free irritation-free shave!!! Keep up the good work.

    Default Keep at it!

Hang in there until all the high spots are level with the rest of your face. Do go slow, be intent, and keep the cats out of the bathroom.
