Thanked: 0Hi. another new guy with a good question.
Hi,
I will soon be buying a straight razor I'm still researching which one, and size.
I have a question in regards to buying a new one or used. If I choose to buy a used one from a member here, what should i do to it upon receiving it in regards to sanitizing it?
I was concerned about this and thought I'd ask here.
Also, which size is usually recommended for a beginner, a 5/8 or 6/8? Pros and cons of each?
Thanks for any opinions,
Regards,
Mitch

Thanked: 4942There's a thread on this topic right now. Check it out.
As far as sanitation, I use Marvcide on the razors I hone up before they go out. For the most part, steaming hot water on a blade will take care of all worries from the scientific advice I have been given.
Have fun,
Lynn

If I were you, I'd just ask the seller what he uses. In a great majority of cases they will use an acceptable method, but it never hurts to ask. I disinfect all of my razors (whether they are for sale or for keeps) before I even take them to the hones.

I use rubbing alcohol.
5/8 and 6/8 are both great sizes for beginners.

Thanked: 0Thanks
Thanks for the replys,
I found the disinfecting thread, and have been reading through as many posts as I can.
I'll probably get a full hollow ground 5/8 or 6/8 Dovo, just deciding on which one.
Thanks for all the help.
take care,
Mitch
