Hi

I've been considering on/off buying a straight razor for about a month now, but I'm not really sure at all what I should be looking for.

At the moment I'm thinking about a Sanguine I've seen on e-bay for about £8 just as a very cheap starter.

Then moving on to a Timor 'Blue Steel' 5/8" perhaps.

Is that a sound strategy? I'm aware that the Sanguine isn't a reputable brand, is the Timor any good?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Does anyone know where I can get a decent quality straight from in the UK (thats not too expensive).

Are there many wedge designs around? Most seem to be the concave style.
