Safe Practices For Str8 Shaving
Since all web blogs are basically anarchy, there can be all kinds of suggestions from people regarding things to try when str8 shaving. Some of these things are useful, some are not, some are downright dangerous.
So, I thought it might be helpful for Newbies, if some of us more experienced members listed some safe practices for new shavers. In addition, we might add some unsafe practices to the list.
Maybe this will be a volatile issue, in which case, we can stop it, but I thought it might be helpful.
For example:
Safe Practices:
#1: Always shave with a "Shave Ready" razor.
#2: Pay attention when starting a stroke
#3: Always take your time and prep your whiskers thoroughly
#4: Warm Towels should be warm, not boiling hot
#5: Fold the razor when not in use.
#6:
.
.
.
Unsafe Practices: ( I am adding these as people post them below
#1: Never shave in a hurry
#2: Never shave while driving
#3: Never shave in the shower
#4: Shave in the buff at your own risk!
.
.
.
Just an idea...might help newbies have a more enjoyable start.Last edited by toolarts; 01-24-2008 at 11:05 PM. Reason: updating with other's ideas...

Great idea. I should have listened to #1 before this mornings adventure. Just about every nick, scratch, cut I have gotten because of razors not being sharp enough. I broke new ground in goof-ups this morning, though. Never shave in a hurry. I reached up to adjust the mirror and somehow hit my shaving hand. This drove my wapi into the bottom of my chin. The nick wasn't too bad, but it scared me half to death. This was my 5th or 6th shave and I'm still getting used to it all..

Well, firstly, a really big no-no is straight shaving in the shower! Also something you have to watch out for is getting your hands all full of pre-shave oil and then handling the razor.
Also, some advocate not shaving in the buff if you want to ensure you keep your manliness!Last edited by Milton Man; 01-24-2008 at 08:43 PM.

Thanked: 0Always be aware of where the blade is at ALL times in relation to one's body. One brief moment of carelessness can bring days of regret.

If you are going to blow water out of the scales make sure that the blade is pointed at the floor.
Unless you are lying on the floor, then make sure that the blade is pointing towards the ceiling .

Wait at least 30 minutes after eating before shaving and always use the buddy system...and make sure you stretch those triceps out.
