Hello!
Hi!
I just joined up here! First I'll admit to being a total noob on straights. I have quite a collection of DE stuff and for some reason I bought 2 Wapis.
The other day I thought I'd have a try and found it an interesting experience. I'm not ready to ditch my DE's, but I can ceratinly say I want to learn to have a good shave with a straight.
Now, I'm off to peek around in this forum and see what goodies I can find! See you later!
/Johan

Welcome. Nice forum name. Sounds like the name I'd like the next RAP artist to take. Have a look around.

Thanks for the welcome!
I had another go tonight and it was better, not good... but better. But after having read in this section of the forum I understand that I am to expect the first weeks to be a rough and bumpy ride.
What helped me today? I stropped the razor 50 times on each side before shaving. It improved the edge significantly. And I'm probably finding a better angle...
I guess it's like walking for you guys, but right now it takes a lot of concentration... I've read horror stories about people that cut thier ears, thumbs and other more or less pleasant parts of the face and rest of the body So far I have just had bad shaves and a slight sensation of razor burn...

Welcome to SRP Johan. I would get those Wapi's honed by a pro here on SRP before starting. You have experience with the DE's so should be good with the prep. Strop before every shave and now all you need is experience. A pasted paddle strop is all you need to keep your razors good to go for a long time.
