Default How do you "prepare" the soap?

I couldn't find the answer anywhere else so I went ahead and posted it.

I was wondering how you prepare the soap to lather it on your face.

Say I have a small mug, shaving soap, and a brush. Do I use the whole bar of soap with a little watter or tear off a piece of soap?

Again, sorry if this is such a simple question.

    Thanks in advance.

Easiest thing to do is take a coffee cup, add a couple of drops of water in the bottom, then place the puck of soap in and rub it around. This helps secure the soap to the mug. Run hot water on your brush, and flick it lightly to remove excess water. You then want to load the brush with soap by making circles in the mug. When the brush is about 1/3 to 1/2 full of soap, start making circles on your face to finish building the lather.

    Hi!

The best way, IMO, is to use a mug! A big tea mug, a shaving mug, a Moss Scuttle or just a handy pot of choice

Load the [wet but not dripping] brush with soap by swirling it on the soap for 30-40 seconds. If you hold the soap over you mug of choice then the excess can pour into the mug too.

Then take your brush to your mug and begin to work a lather, this can take anyhing from 30 seconds to a fewminutes, depending on the characteristics of the soap. Continue with swirling and pumping motions until you have a rich, creamy lather. Be careful not to add too much water to begin with, add a few drops when you feel it's nessecary. You will see when you've found the correct water/soap ratio.

Thanks so much guys. I'll take all this into consideration. Also, do you clean the mug afterwards or do you just leave it?

I mean do you rinse it, or wipe the inside with a paper towel?

    Thanks

I rinse it and dry it with a towel before I put it back in my cabinet.

For myself, usually I take a wet brush to the soap and swirl it on the cake to pick up some soap then move to my face. I add water to the lather by swirling the brush in a cup with a few drops of water as necessary. My goal is to make a creamy dense lather that's lubricious as well as protective. I keep lathering until I get to that state. I use distilled water because I don't have a water softener. Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    EL

That's how I do it . When I'm finished I wipe off the bottom And outside of the mug , and leave the iside alone .
